Celebrate you today

Two ways to celebrate you daily

September 16, 20203 min read

Celebrate You - two simple words to say, yet at times hard to do daily.

We have to celebrate ourselves. It's so important to do that, especially in these unknown times, we have to celebrate the small and big life wins, such as the ones below.

Small and Big Win Examples Worth a Celebration

  • Brushing your teeth this morning

  • Putting laundry away that's been sitting on the sofa for a few days. Okay, so I am telling on myself with this one, which is fine.

  •  Seeing an idea come to light

  • Applying for opportunities you've been hesitant to go after, whether it's for a career, scholarship, school, or pitching to a potential client

We have to celebrate those small and big wins throughout the day. It's just a few seconds of saying, "Whoot Whoot" or patting yourself on the back. And hugging and loving on all of you.

What does it mean to celebrate?

Well, to celebrate means to acknowledge, to honor, and to observe. Typically, it means to honor and recognize a special moment or special day, whether that be a holiday or a birthday.

In our case, we're referring to a celebration that's in honor of ourselves, not just on a day, not only for a moment but a lifetime— a lifetime of you celebrating and loving yourself, friend.

It's a celebration every time you and yourself have met a small or a big goal, okay. Whoot Whoot!

If you don't celebrate you, then who will?

Folks will show up for you, for a specified timeframe, and celebrate a special occasion. However, you have to show up for yourself every single day. We have to celebrate ourselves every single day.

For me, I like celebrating myself through dance. I love movement. I'm not the best dancer, but it's freeing. I love doing the Wobble, one of my all-time favorite line dances when I have accomplished something.

Also, our presence and just being are worth a celebration. Having breath in our lungs and being able to see another day is also worth a whole celebration.

So, I encourage you all to start today to do two things for yourself:

  1. Smile and Laugh

    • It's hard to say the word smile without smiling. It takes less energy to smile than to channel any other energy. Find those quiet, small moments of joy and laughter in whatever is happening around you or within you. While also recognizing it's okay not to be okay, and it's okay to not see at the moment what brings you joy. Give yourself grace, friend.

  2. Acknowledge your "did that" moment

    • Whatever that may be for you, say to yourself, "I did that." Pat yourself on your back and hug you. Dance. However, you feel moved to celebrate and acknowledge you in healthy ways, do it.

If you feel moved to do so, share or comment on how you plan to celebrate you and acknowledge your "did that" moment?

Until next time, much love and light to you.

I believe in you and validate you, friend.
